Sarah Cardenas

Sarah is one of Elevate’s Program Managers. Sarah was born in the East Bay and was raised in the Central Valley where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics - the first in her family to earn her degree. In 2017, Sarah replanted her roots in the East Bay to attend graduate school at Cal State East Bay where she earned her Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics. After earning her degrees, Sarah became a high school math teacher and private tutor. Her motivation was to create a safe space for students to learn math and to help students battle their math anxieties head-on. Sarah’s experience in teaching the most affluent to the most marginalized and underserved communities has gifted her with a unique perspective on the unfair disproportionalities that exist in education. This is what brings Sarah to Elevate today. One of Sarah’s life goals is to help close the gap in education and to help students like herself be the first in their family to graduate from college.
