Position: Program Manager
  • Elevate Tutoring is looking for an organized, energetic self-starter to serve as a full-time Program Manager for our growing nonprofit organization. Elevate Tutoring advances social justice by bridging economic and achievement gaps on the path to-and-through college. We provide training, work experience, and scholarships to socioeconomically-disadvantaged first-generation college students - our Tutor Fellows - who, in turn, provide high-quality STEM tutoring, mentorship, and growth mindset coaching to their younger peers in middle and high school. Our innovative approach emphasizes asset-based mentorship, metacognitive approaches for both tutors and tutees, and the value of paying it forward.

1) Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for flexibility and a collaborative but autonomous work culture. The ideal candidate for this position will be dependable, organized, data-driven, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This position will report directly to the Director of Programs. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing regional operations for our Fellowship program.

  • This is a primarily administrative role with tasks including, but not limited to, setting the weekly tutoring schedules and sending out all relevant announcements, collaborating with and navigating all Elevate partnerships, coordinating and planning Elevate events and workshops, and collecting, interpreting, and entering program evaluation data.

2) Additional responsibilities:

  • Track and oversee the success of each cohort of college Tutor Fellows via advising, built-in programming support, and outreach. Connect Fellows to additional resources (e.g. internships, jobs, mentorship, etc.) as necessary.

  • Handle the scheduling of all tutor fellows and their site assignments. Maintain trackers and liaise with partner sites to continually update schedules. Handle day-to-day partner sites and tutor schedules, including monitoring last-minute urgent/emergency scheduling changes.

  • Maintain a detailed tracking database for all student data (transcripts, case management, graduation dates, etc.). Coordinate with volunteers and other staff to design and implement metric collection, organization, and analysis.

  • Work closely with the Director of Programs and Director of Development to support other programs and fundraising projects as needed.

  • Attend occasional evening and weekend events, in-person and virtual.

3) Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in youth development, college access/success, or teaching.

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of direct college access/success experience; personal experience with transfer pathways and first-generation college students a plus.

  • Ability to quickly build rapport with college students of diverse backgrounds (race, gender, income, immigration, and economics) and support individualized success plans for each student.

  • Organized and able to maintain focus on long-term projects with urgent interruptions or fluctuating priorities throughout the day.

  • Familiarity with Google Suite and Drive; experience with Tutor Fellow shift planning, project management, photo editing, or newsletter apps a plus.

  • Availability to maintain consistent office hours during business hours (approx. 75% of total hours) with flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend meetings or events.

  • Basic familiarity with program evaluation (theoretical or practical) as well as an ability to enter data accurately, develop verification procedures, and create analysis reports.

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, including formatting, formulas, and analysis.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish highly preferred.

4) Vaccination and Testing Requirements

  • Elevate is committed to providing our staff and students with a safe work environment and helping to promote the health of our community. Additionally, per our school partners’ requirements for on-site programs, candidates must be able to complete LiveScan, tuberculosis screening, and COVID vaccination requirements.

  • As such, Elevate will require all employees to confidentially show proof of negative Tuberculosis status or current treatment as well as COVID-19 vaccination, unless they are unable to receive the vaccine because of a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief or practice. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VII, and applicable state laws, Elevate is prepared to make reasonable accommodations for employees who (1) cannot take the vaccine due to a medical disability or (2) seek an exemption from the vaccine based on sincerely held religious beliefs.

5) Benefits

  • Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $56,000 - $61,000 per year. Paid leave includes 3 weeks of personal leave (sick, vacation) and 10 paid holidays per year. Employees also receive a personal benefit bonus to offset costs of healthcare, retirement, etc.

6) Location

  • Candidates MUST reside within Elevate's service area. Elevate does not maintain a physical office space, but this role will require occasional site visits, attendance at meetings and events within Santa Clara County and the East Bay. Candidates must have access to reliable transportation. The Program Manager will work partially from home, but when circumstances allow, will spend approx. 1-2 days per week in-person (rotating through our Santa Clara County and East Bay partner schools).
