Two Communities. One Program.
Elevate Tutoring's Fellowship Program is a part-time, 18-month fellowship for outstanding low-income, first-generation college students. As Elevate Fellows, each college student will volunteer as a tutor at local K-12 schools for more than 150 hours. Along the way, they earn a $8,000 scholarship, gain real work experience, and build a strong network of connections to help accelerate their career.

Our unique two-tiered program model meets the needs of two distinct communities. First, we support low-income, first-generation college students. Second, we support underserved K-12 students.
A Timeline of Elevate's Fellowship Program
Before they step foot into a classroom, all Elevate Tutor Fellows go through an 18-hour intensive tutor training. During this time, they learn about concepts such as growth mindset, learned helplessness, and productive failure, and practice the skills they'll need to be a highly-effective tutor.
Recruitment
Each semester, we recruit college students from across all colleges and universities in our region. We look for college students that both have demonstrated need, but also a passion for giving back. If you want to apply to be an Elevate Tutor Fellow, click here.
We believe practice is a key part of becoming a good tutor. All new Elevate Tutor Fellows get paired with a more experienced Tutor, who they shadow and support for at least 1-2 weeks before beginning to tutor on their own.

Graduation and Beyond!
When they're ready, Tutor Fellows are paired with a local school site where they'll provide 4-5 hours per week of STEM tutoring and serve as a role-model for the students that they work with.
Tutor Fellows continue to receive weekly training to improve their tutoring skills. Weekly training gives our tutor fellows an opportunity to go over teamwork, listening & asking skills, taking risks, develop a responsive teaching mentality, and understanding how to create a comfortable learning environment.
Throughout the year, Tutor Fellows also receive workshops focused on professional development to help them in their future careers. Examples of workshops include financial literacy, resume building, mock interviews, or career guidance.
Once Tutor Fellows complete their hours for ongoing training, ongoing workshops, and tutoring sessions, they will have officially completed the Tutor Fellowship program! Tutor Fellows can begin receiving part of their reimbursement to help with college tuition as they complete their hours throughout the program. After they finish the Tutor Fellowship program, fellows continue with their undergraduate studies and career exploration with new skills and knowledge to help them achieve their goals.
